In My Own Little Corner

As a practical misanthrope, I’m very much a homebody and in that sense, quarantine has been less traumatic for me than for many others. I like to be at home, and so have put a lot of effort into creating a home I love out of the tiny New York apartment I pay far too much for in rent each month. It’s not much, but it’s mine, and it’s the first place I’ve ever lived that really feels like that.

I would love more space, of course, and hopefully someday I’ll have it, but for now, I’m content to continue spending my days primarily here, in my own little corner of the world, doing what little work I have the energy to do and otherwise finding ways to distract myself from the prickling, claustrophobic anxiety I’m constantly experiencing, until this godforsaken pandemic abates and life begins again.
